Wilson Nestor's story

Wilson is a young man who was born in Guangaje, one of the poorest cantons in Ecuador, located in the province of Cotopaxi. Currently he lives in Latacunga with his wife, with whom he has one son.

When he moved from his birth place to the provincial capital an old man took him in and he lived in his home. He also taught him to recycle cardboard. For 8 years he has had a cardboard recycling plant and sells his product to the bottling factories. He works long shifts, 10 hours a day. Wilson likes to attend the trainings that Fundacion Alternative gives to its clients.

Wilson wants to invest in basic materials and in refurbishing his machinery so that he can get better profits and give jobs to more low-income workers who sort out the trash.

One of his greatest obstacles in life has been racism because he comes from a poor place.
