Mikheil's story

Mikheil is 36 years old farmer from the village Kveda Sazano, Imereti Region. He is married and lives with his family: wife – Tamila, 6 year old daughter, 3 year old son, 78 year old mother (retired) and 39 year old sister. The latter has health problems and gets relevant monthly pension from the state. Mikheil’s children go to school. Tamila is a housewife.

Mikheil is leading the agricultural business of the family. They own 2 cows and sell dairy products on Zestaponi (nearby town) market. Also the family gets income from sales of grapes and nuts harvested on a family owned 1.5 hectare plot of land, where 150 nut trees and 1500 vine trees are grown. Total average monthly income of the family is 500 Laris, including the pensions of Mikheil’s mother and sister.

Mikheil requested credit for expansion of the dairy farm. He plans to purchase an additional milk cow to produce and sell 50% more cheese and thus increase the income of the family. Increase in income will allow Mikheil’s family to improve their living conditions.
