In this Group: Augustin, Jacqueline, Francois, Suzane, Vestine, Jonas, Abraham, Eliazar, Judance, Juvenal
Augustin was born in Rwanda and is part of the Dufatanye Nº4 RSZ group. The name of the group means ´working together´. Augustin is single and is raising 4 orphans. He left secondary school after 3 years, and became a rice farmer. This is his second loan cycle with ACB. He will use his part of the loan to buy chemical fertilizer and pay the labourers who work on his farm. He plans to grow his business by harvesting large amounts of rice from small plots of land, thanks to the use of chemical fertilizers. In the next few years, Augustin would like to become known as the best rice farmer in his valley and become the main supplier of rice in the region. He plans to use the profits from his business to pay for the orphans´ educational expenses and continue with his own education.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
