A loan of $4,600 helped a member to buy ingredients to make juice and to buy vegetables to re-sell.

Dabo 01 Group's story

The Dabo 01 group was created on July 12, 2008, and has had five loan cycles with Banc Villageois. The group is made up of 21 women who live in the same village. Their main activity is small-scale retail.

Madame Baldé (seated, far right) is the group's leader. She is 51 years old, married and the mother of seven children. She sells juice and ice in the village, and she also has a vegetable stall. At first, she only sold vegetables. After several years of experience, she decided to add some variety. With this new loan, she will buy items necessary to make juice, and she will stock up on vegetables for re-sale. Profits from these activities allow her to support her husband in paying for food, healthcare and schooling for the family.
