A loan of $750 helped to buy natural insecticides to overcome the insect infestations which affect her fields.

Rebeca's story

31-year old Rebeca is a loving and hardworking mother. She lives in her own house with her 32-year old husband Alfredo and their four beloved children for whom she wishes to provide a better quality of life.

Rebeca and her husband have succeeded in making their land fertile and surrounded by lush trees. This is where she grows cocoa and coffee, work she's been doing for ten years. She also gets help from time to time from labourers who work on contract. Ever since she was little, Rebeca learnt about the land from her parents. Her most profitable crop is coffee as she sells it in large quantities and for a good price. With the money she earns, she has managed to buy many useful items for the home.

The season she likes the least is winter because of the number of insects and the large amount of rain. This is why she has approached the institution Financiera for a loan to try to overcome the insect infestations and safeguard the blossoms on the crops.

Rebeca's plan for the future is to continue farming and acquire more land so that she can overcome the poverty in which her family lives. She does not want to cause any problems for the financial institution or for the members of her community bank. She is grateful to the donors for their help with her work. With the money from the loan she plans to buy natural insecticides to overcome the insect infestations which harm her fields.
