Amada Petita's story

Amanda Petita, 60, is single and has two children but they don’t live with her; she lives alone in Chillanes Canton, Bolivar Province.

The communal bank is called “El Placer” (Pleasure) and it belongs to Chillanes Canton, San Jose del Tambo Parish, and located 60 minutes from the office. This communal bank has 24 members who are banana, rice, manioc, cocoa bean, soy and orange farmers; they also raise barnyard animals.

Amanda is a rice, corn, orange, soy and banana farmer; she also raises chickens to sell. She makes her purchases in San Jose del Tambo and her sales at the Sunday Chillanes market.

She is asking for the loan to buy farming supplies, fertilizer and chicken feed. The loan will serve as support to improve the crops and the chicken sales. She faces challenges like age and health. Her dream is to have a house of her own. She likes going for walks in her free time.
