A loan of $800 helped to buy pigs and feed.

Julio Omario's story

28-year old Julio Omario is single and has no children. He lives alone in Chillanes Canton, in the province of Bolivar.

His community bank is called El Placer and is part of Chillanes Canton, in the parish of San Jose del Tambo, located 60 minutes from the main office. In this branch there are 24 members, all of whom work in agriculture. They grow bananas, rice, yucca, cocoa, soya, and oranges. As well they raise animals.

Julio grows cocoa and soya, and also raises pigs and then sells them. He buys them in San Jose del Tambo, and sells them in Chillanes market on Sundays.

He is seeking a loan to buy pigs and feed. The money will help him to improve the quality of the food he gives the pigs and thus earn more profit when he sells them. The biggest problem he faces is the number of people selling pigs who all compete on prices. His dream is to remain healthy so he can carry on working and build a house. In his free time Julio enjoys going for walks with his parents.
