Tomato Group's story

Elina, who is in her mid-30s, is married with five children who go to school. Her husband is staying very far away from her. She has had a vegetable business since 2009. She is also a local herbalist. She works from 8 a.m to 12 noon daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be her 3rd loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to buy an irrigation machine, increased the vegetable business and took care of her children. She has paid back both her prior loans successfully. She wants a loan to increase the vegetable stock and to plant and sell more watermelon.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Tomato" which has a total of 18 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
