A loan of $750 helped to buy bags of fertilizer and rent a tractor.

Sulema's story

Sulema is 28, and lives with her son and her partner in a rented house. She has worked in agriculture her whole life. This is the livelihood that her parents taught her; cultivating the land, and producing crops to support the family. Today it is her main source of income.

She owns some land, inherited from her parents, and she keeps working and growing potatoes, corn, fava beans, yams, and peas. In spite of the difficulties she had in previous plantings, due to variable weather conditions, Sulema hasn't stopped working. She is even hopeful that good weather will arrive, and she will manage to harvest much of her production.

This is her second loan with MFP. Her first loan opportunity was a positive experience for her business. On this occasion, she will also use the money she is applying for to buy bags of fertilizer and to prepare her land for planting, for which she will rent a tractor.
