A loan of $750 helped to purchase scales, products to stock his store, and counters.

Elias's story

Elías, a 32 year old native of the community of Anco, is a young, hardworking single man. He lives in his own house and sees a promising future for himself, lifting himself out of extreme poverty. From a very young age, his parents instilled in him the desire to earn a living and pay for his studies through his own effort. He had a very hard childhood which he was able to leave behind by means of his own merit, work and perseverance.

At 19 he became independent from his parents, left his job, and opened his own business, a grocery store. He began by selling his products from his parents' house, and over time, saved enough to buy his own plot of land where his store is located today. Elías is a man to be reckoned with, and he points out that one achieves one's goals through perseverance. Today he likes the work he does, and with the good income he makes, he bought his own parcel of 2 hectares (4.94 acres) which he leaves to the care of farm workers.

Elías needs the loan in order to continue prospering and providing good service to his customers. He needs to purchase scales for weighing his products, and counters and tables for displaying his wares in a more appealing manner, and he knows he can achieve this thanks to the lenders' support. This will be his first loan, he is very pleased to be a part of MFP, and he is happy to know that he can count on financial support, since this way he will feel secure in purchasing the items mentioned. With the 2000 soles, he will buy scales, and counters and tables to better display his products.
