A loan of $550 helped to buy sacks of fertilizer.

Juan's story

59-year-old Juan lives together with his wife Isabel and they care for their children. They have six children but only two of them still live at home: Julio and Obed. They live together in the community of Casacoto.

Every morning, Juan organizes the different household tasks. For example, very early in the morning Isabel has to serve the locals with firewood so that they can cook their daily food. Meanwhile, Juan goes out to look after his animals (sheep and cattle). After supper, Juan goes out to his farmland which he acquired through a lot of hard work. There he grows potatoes and peas. This is what he most enjoys as he makes monthly profits and there is a lot of demand. In the central market in town, during potato season, traders give him a good price for his produce. For this reason, he is planning to acquire more farmland where he will not only grow potatoes but also other products which grow in this area. He is worried by his lack of working capital but he is certain that, with the help of his community bank, he will be able to achieve his goal.

Juan is a member of the 'Miraflores de Casacoto' community bank and this is his fourth loan from MFP. He is happy to work with the residents of his town because they took the decision to invest and make progress together. For his part, he pledges to be punctual in making his loan repayments. Juan is currently sowing potatoes in the town of Illick. With your support, he will invest the money that he has requested in buying several sacks of fertilizer to spread over his crops.
