A loan of $1,100 helped buy various sacks of fertilizer for his crops.

Alfonso's story

Alfonso is 25 years old and is a simple young man who lives with his father Oscar, his mother Jivia, and his 2 brothers in their family home in the community of Alianza. What he most desires is to get ahead in life. As a single young person, he has many ambitions. Every morning anew, he takes great pains with his work to make his crops very productive. He knows that the quality of the oranges, tangerines, plantains, and corn that he sows on his 3 fields depends on this effort.

After harvest, he will sell the resulting crops in the city market at La Merced. When sales are increasing, he takes them to the harvest to the city of Lima (the capital of the country).

What he likes most about his work is the freedom, since the land is his and he is his own boss. Alfonso has been doing this work for 5 years and the most difficult task is maintaining his coffee plantings.

In time, he would like to buy new land and increase production, not only to increase his income but to be able to help his brothers who are still boys.

Alfonso belongs to the “Alianza al Progresso” (Alliance towards Progress) communal bank and this is his 5th loan through MFP. He is confident that he can repay the loan because he is a hard worker. Alfonso appreciates the help of all of you.

He is thinking about replanting his plots of plantains and hybrid corn and requesting your help to do so. He will use the present loan to buy various sacks of natural fertilizers to spread on his crops.
