Zonia's story

Zonia, age 26, is a happy and hard-working woman. She lives in her own home with her partner Yuri, age 27, and their beloved son, to whom she wants to provide all the comforts. Zonia has spent the majority of her life in her beloved village of Rosario. From a very young age she learned the family business, and now she knows everything there is to know about farming. She now works on her own land with her beloved partner. They cultivate cocoa, coffee, and timber-yielding trees. This work has provided them with the necessary income to maintain their family. They sell everything that they harvest to the distribution centers in San Francisco city. There they receive better prices for all of their products. What she most enjoys about her work is sowing her lands, and she does so with great care. She has done this work for 10 years and finds the most difficult part to be transporting her products, since the freight cars are scarce in the Valle Rio Apurimac forest region. With time, she wants to buy new lands with the goal of increasing production. This will be her second loan with MFP, and she hopes for a small loan so that she can achieve her goals. She is prepared to repay her quotas. With the 3,000 requested soles, she will buy manure and natural fertilizers to improve her plants and thus benefit greatly from the harvest.
