A loan of $3,350 helped a member to buy chicken, plantains, fruits, soda, and a radio.

Las Vecinas 1 & 2 Group's story

Casilda is the coordinator of her group, Las Vecinas (The Neighbors), and her group is located in the Samana Peninsula, a lush, rugged area with a nascent tourism industry where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and their three children.

Casilda is excited to be taking her fifth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling fried chicken. She has a Pica pollo (fried chicken restaurant). Casilda will use her loan to buy chicken, plantains, and fruits. Also, she is planning to buy a radio for her little restaurant. She will use the profits to invest in her business locale. She has her own locale and she wants to enlarge it. She also wants to buy medicine.

Casilda's most important challenge is to build her house. She enjoys working and spending time with her family. She thanks you all for your support.
