Omar Enrique's story

Omar is a 47-year-old man who lives in the south-west of the city with his brother and his family. His business is selling perfumes, cosmetics and medicinal products without restriction. His business idea came about due to his need to make his own income. He made the most of the experience he gained when he worked in a drug store. Omar's market knowledge led him to set up his business in a commercial location where he has managed to position himself. He makes sales daily and mainly for cash. However, he also occasionally sells on credit. At first he purchased his goods on credit but he currently purchases them with cash and he is well known by his suppliers. Although his premises are small, he has plans to extend them and he works hard every day in order to achieve this.

Omar is currently requesting a Kiva loan (the first loan he has received from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo) with the aim of increasing his working capital and buying medicines, products such as powdered milk, and miscellaneous items, which are those that currently have the biggest turnover. Omar's dream is to make work for family members but he is aware that he needs to grow. He currently has a return on sales of 26% and a stock turnover period of 8 days. These indicators reflect his potential growth.
