A loan of $450 helped to buy ingredients to prepare his food and do some remodeling in his kitchen and his vehicle.

Luis Carlos's story

Luis Carlos is married and has two children who are 2 and 8 years old. They live in the southwest part of the city where Luis has a business preparing meals which is his main source of income for his home’s wellbeing. He sells chicken with rice, fish with rice, arepas [turnovers], turnovers and fried cheese sticks that he transports daily in his bike/car vehicle to sell them for cash to his clientele located in the industrial park near his house. His dream is to turn his business into a food distributorship and also to acquire a house of his own. His greatest challenge is the crowded conditions shared by his family and his business.

Currently, Luis Carlos is applying for his Kiva loan, the first financing he gets from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo that he’ll use to buy ingredients to prepare his meals. He will also do some adjustments to the kitchen and to his vehicle, a bike/car that he uses to transport his products for sale. While Luis Carlos works hard to reach his goal, he manages a profit margin on sales of no less than 50% and a benefit over total assets ratio of 39.38%, financial indicators from which we can project potential growth and augur a successful investment of his Kiva loan.
