A loan of $625 helped to acquire two additional washing machines and to buy cosmetics and household products to fulfill her customers' orders.

Leyda's story

Leyda is the owner of a variety store and a washing machine rental business. Her business is located in the city of Cartagena, where she lives with her family. Leyda started her business two years in order to address the need to generate additional income so that she could provide for the welfare of her household. She began with a small amount of capital that was given to her by her husband. Leyda offered a few products on credit to neighbors whenever she visited them. Being a good observer, she started offering new products and her customer base gradually grew. She also provided new services when she rented out her first washing machine. Over time, Leyda bought two more and wants to continue growing because she cannot stop the demand for this service. With each passing day, her capacity to respond is insufficient. It is for this reason that she is applying for a Kiva loan. She wants to acquire two additional washing machines as well as cosmetics and household products to fulfill her orders.

This is Leyda’s second loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, the organization that helped her to buy her own house. Her family is very happy and she is very pleased that she has found new success in her work. Her business maintains sales profitability of 39.93% and a product turnover period of 13 days. These indicators signal growth as a result of her great work potential.
