A loan of $1,525 helped to purchase calves.

Zurab's story

Zurab, from Vale, South Georgia, is 45 years old, married and lives with his wife Manana, his 6-year-old daughter and his retired parents. The sole income provider of the family, Zurab grows potatoes and cabbage on a family-owned 0.75 hectare plot of land, selling 8 tones of potatoes and 17 tones of cabbage per year to local greengrocery retailers. Total average family monthly income is 900 Laris, including Zurab’s parents' pensions.

Zurab has requested a loan to diversify his agricultural business. He plans to purchase six or seven calves to raise, and will sell them in the spring for a profit. Food for the calves will cost nothing, as he will mow the grass and make hay. The profits from this new enterprise will improve the family's living conditions.
