Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,125 helped to buy merchandise to stock his store.

Santos's story

Santos, who is 53 years old, lives with his spouse and children in their own house, which has electric service only. They are in the rural area of Tambogrande district, which is in the department of Piura. The area is known for farming, ranching and arts and crafts.

For the past six years, Santos has sold staple goods (milk, rice, oil, sugar, toilet paper, tuna, etc.) and drinks. He has put the business in his own house for comfort and safety. With the earnings he gets from sales of his products, he tries to cover all his expenses and improve his family's standard of living.

In order to help his business, Santos has asked Edpyme Alternativa for a loan of 3000 nuevos soles to buy more merchandise. His only ideal is that his business continues growing and is better stocked so he can offer more to his customers. Santos is a responsible and hardworking person who cares about making his family more comfortable.
