A loan of $1,100 helped to buy oxen.

Nouhoum's story

Mr. Nouhoum is a 51-year-old married father of three. He lives with his wife and children at his uncle’s home in an enlarged traditional family in Bougouni, in the Hérémakono Nord neighborhood. Having not attended modern school, he has been working for a living since he was young. For years, he has been buying and selling fish, but this business has never truly appealed to him. This is why three years ago, he decided to change his business to buy and sell oxen. He learned how to conduct this business from a friend. Having been introduced to Soro Yiriwaso by his wife, who is one of their clients, he decided to take a loan to buy four or five oxen. He stocks up in Bougouni and neighboring villages. He sells at the cattle market in Bougouni and a part of Bamako to a clientele primarily composed of butchers. Mr. Nouhoum plans to earn 75,000 FCFA monthly. With his profit, he envisions building a house to live in and to grow his business.
