A loan of $900 helped to buy aluminum.

Daouda's story

Mr. Daouda is a 42-year-old married man with 3 children, who lives in a traditional family with his wife, his children, and his parents in Faraba, neighborhoods in the city of Bougouni (Sikasso region). Having not attended modern school, he has been working for a living since he was young, having trained in his father’s occupation, namely the production of cooking pots and other practical objects with his father in a forge. With more than 20 years of experience under his belt, Daouda has mastered this business and is very much in demand. Having met Soro Yiriwaso through another of their clients, he decided to join the organization in order to increase his buying power. Indeed, he plans to buy with his loan 50 kg of aluminum and 20 bags of charcoal. He is on his second loan with Soro Yiriwaso and the previous loan was repaid. He stocks up on aluminum in Bougouni and in Bamako (capital of the republic of Mali). He sells his merchandise in the Bougouni market and in neighboring villages on weekly market days. Most of his customers are women. He hopes to earn 60,000 FCFA monthly, which will be used to repay the loan and put back into his business.
