A loan of $375 helped to buy beans wholesale.

Jannet Del Socorro's story

35-year-old Janneth lives in the city of Granada and is a shopkeeper. She is married and has two children aged 12 and 9. Janneth owns a grocery store which she has had for five years. She started out selling just a small quantity of candies, cookies and bread. When she turned 30, she stopped working as a domestic as her grandmother was looking after her children and she didn't have much time to spend with them. She had to look for an alternative form of work which would allow her to make money and, at the same time, look after her children. Her husband gave her a small amount of capital to invest in a grocery store business and she bought some basic grains. When her grocery store had been running for a year, she made another investment and she has been gradually stocking it in this way.

Janneth needs this loan to buy beans wholesale. She believes that this is a good time to buy beans as they are cheap and she would like to take advantage and sell as many as she can before their market price rises. Janneth would like to continue working so that she can get ahead in her business and make it more sustainable.
