Maria Margarita's story

María Margarita is 37 years old. She is single and lives with her mother and 14-year-old son in Guaranda canton, in Bolívar province. The 'Voluntad de Dios' community bank is located in the community of La Cría, 20 minutes from Guanujo parish, in Guaranda canton, Bolívar province. The members of this community bank work in farming and livestock raising. María farms and raises livestock. She owns her own home and five 'cuadras' of land. She grows potatoes, corn, wheat, beans and peas. She also raises animals such as pigs, sheep, chickens and guinea pigs. She buys and sells her products in the town of Guaranda. María is requesting this loan to buy manure, seeds, fertilizers, liquid pesticides and supplies to sow potatoes and increase her business. The loan will support her in covering her financial needs and improving her farming activities. She faces challenges such as the rise and fall of the prices of the products she sells and the sharp changes in the weather which we are experiencing. María's dream is to buy a house in the city of Quito so that her son can go and study there and not have to pay rent. María enjoys Carnival celebrations and local celebrations.
