A loan of $575 helped to provide maintenance to her furniture like her salon chair and to buy supplies in volume.

Sonia's story

Sonia, age 61, has three children ranging in age from 31 to 35. She dreams of seeing them become successful people. She has a beauty salon. This enterprising idea started when she separated from her husband 28 years ago. She decided to get training in order to become self-sufficient and productive for her children’s well-being.

In her business she offers services to improve the self-image and professional services for both genders of all ages. Her services are cutting hair, manicure, pedicure, make-up, straightening, and hair styling. Her advice is her main value added.

She has been connected to the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo through 17 loans. With the loans she has managed to improve her business location and provide comfortable spaces for her customers. Above all, she has the actual products on hand, which she sells to her customers that request them.

This is her 18th Kiva loan. She plans to use it for maintenance on her furniture like the styling chair. She has more customers, and she needs more of them. She will make good use of the ones she has stored. She will also buy supplies in volume in order to meet her demand.

Her goal for later is to get new work stations and sustained stability. She wants to open other beauty shops. Meanwhile, Sonia manages an accounts payable turnover of every 34 days. From there she is planning her growth.
