A loan of $800 helped to buy soft drinks, vegetables, meats, flour, oil, miniature greens, sauces, condiments, cookies, donuts, and candy.

Jose Valentin's story

Jose Valentin is 41 years old, married, and has three children between the ages of 14 and 17. He and his family reside in the neighborhood of Casa Blanca in the Department of Francisco Morazan.

Jose sells snacks and soft drinks. He started this business because there was no other place in town where one could buy soft drinks and snacks without having to walk a long distance. Jose talked with his wife about his idea of opening a small snack stand and she agreed. Little by little, he restocked his business with other products. His schedule of operation is from 5pm to 11pm. When Jose gets home after completing his work day, he starts helping out at the snack stand as a waiter. His wife takes care of the cooking while he attends to the customers.

The loan Jose is requesting will be used to buy soft drinks, vegetables, meats, flour, oil, miniature greens, sauces, condiments, and other products such as cookies, donuts, and candy. With the support of this loan, his business will be well-stocked and his sales will increase. His goal is to open a restaurant with a large buffet so that he can sustain his household and help his children finish their studies.

This is Jose’s second loan cycle with FAMA and he expresses his gratitude for the loans he has received because they provide a source of income. He is confident that he will complete his payments on time.
