A loan of $775 helped to buy gift items, greeting cards, stuffed toys and school supplies.

Indaura Ismelda's story

The “María Auxiliadora” communal bank meets in La Sequita Parish belonging to Montecristi, a prosperous canton in Manabí, that’s full of hardworking, dedicated people who are proud of their roots. La Sequita is a parish whose inhabitants are honest people who only know how to work and be devoted to their families. Indaura, 57, lives here. She’s in a common law relationship and has 8 children. Seven of her children are adults and the youngest is 17 years old and goes to a distance learning school. Two of her children still live with her. Her husband’s a merchant.

Our friend has a locale at home where she sells general merchandise and stationary items. She works every day from 8am until 6pm and sometimes even later when her customers need something. She’s had the business for over 15 years and she tells us that she likes it very much because it keeps her entertained.

This loan is to buy general merchandise like: gift items, greeting cards, stuffed toys and school supplies. She’s been a member of the communal bank for 20 cycles and she likes it because of the additional services the institution provides. Her dream is to increase business and to enjoy good health.
