Concepcion's story

Concepción was born in the city of Huaraz in Ancash Department (Perú) and is 59 years old. She’s a widow and has three children. She’s lived in the city of Cusco for the last 25 years which is where she carries out her activities. She sells food, beer and “chicha de jora” [corn based drink]. She’s been in business for several years and does very well. Concepción needs the loan to buy more ingredients like rice and noodles and part of it will be used to buy beer and jora.

The “Siempre Adelante” (Always Forward) communal bank meets every thirty days in the city of Cusco (Perú). Cusco is noted for tourism, commerce, for its traditional “Inty Raymi” festival and because one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machupicchu, is located here.
