Martha Lidia's story

Martha Lidia is 54 and lives with her husband and 12-year-old son in the Belén quarter of the city of Juticalpa. She sells merchandise such as shoes, clothing, lotions, cosmetics and other personal care items. She started her business because her husband's salary was not enough to cover expenses and she decided to help out. She organized part of her house to set up a small store to obtain extra income for the family.

One of the disadvantages of her business is that the store is located on a dirt road. With the climate being very hot she must keep the door open and the merchandise then gets covered with dust. Martha is requesting a loan to buy goods such as clothing and lingerie, shoes, sandals, cosmetics, perfumes and other items. With the help of the loan she will be able to keep her store well stocked so she can increase sales and her household income. Her goal is to make the necessary improvements to exhibit merchandise so it won't get damaged. Martha has been a FAMA member for three cycles, always paying back the loans on time. Because of her promptness she was awarded for being one of the institution's best customers.
