Salome is a married woman with four children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for the family.
For the past five years, she has operated a tailoring business, selling from home to her neighbours and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality, especially during rainy season. She dreams of establishing a boutique in the future.
With the KES 40,000 she wants to purchase threads and fabric. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
