A loan of $550 helped to buy traditional outfits, shoes etc for resale.

Absatou's story

Ms. Absatou is a single 33-year old woman living in Senegal. She is a waitress in a local restaurant, but at the same time she works as a vendor. Since three years ago, she has been selling shoes, perfume, necklaces, traditional "boubou" outfits, cosmetic powder and make-up. She has chosen this activity out of necessity, in order to be able to take care of her expenses and make ends meet. She is a member of a branch of U-IMCEC since May 2007. She has already repaid two prior loans. She is seeking a credit of 250,000 in order to buy merchandise in Gambia. After returning, she will buy some additional goods that she will be able to resell in Senegal. This financing will allow her to bolster her working capital and better develop her business.
