A loan of $1,050 helped to buy pants, blouses, tee shirts, children's clothes, and materials to make jewelry.

Johanna Monserrate's story

The communal bank Unión De Mujeres meets every 15 days in the beautiful city of Calceta, a city known as “Calceta without equal" because of the beauty of the women there and because, to those who live there, no city in the world is more beautiful.

In this city lives Johanna, who is 29 years old, is in a common law marriage, and has two children aged 10 and 7 years old and in school. Her husband is a mason.

She is a very hard working woman who is a housekeeper and also works as a nursing assistant in a clinic in Calceta. She also makes imitation jewelry and sells clothing through a catalogue. She makes her sales by going door to door and also takes the opportunity to make sales where she works. She gives her clients a credit and collects every 15 days. She's been operating this business for seven years and it's going very well.

She will use this loan to buy more merchandise like: pants, blouses, tee shirts, children's clothes, and material to make jewelry. She's been in the communal bank for 5 years and she likes it because the loans have been used to enable her to buy merchandise.

Her dream is to progress in her business.
