A loan of $1,100 helped to buy cartons of meat, tripe, stewing chickens and chicken thighs.

Richard's story

This father of a family of three children whose ages vary between 17 and five is himself aged 46 and owner of a butcher shop and grocery store in the market.

Past loans have allowed him to grow his business. His daily revenue has greatly improved. He has made enormous profit which has allow him to request a larger fourth loan.

With this loan he plans to buy 5 cartons of chicken thighs, 5 cartons of rump steaks, 3 cartons of other beef, 2 cartons of tripe, 2 cartons of oxtails, 2 cartons of stewing hens, 1 carton of pork, one carton of kidneys, 1 carton of beef liver, 1 sack of rice, 3 packages of mineral water, and tinned food (sardines, mackerel, peas, mixed vegetables, mushrooms, tomato paste, peeled tomatoes, sausages, etc.)

His daily sales total 50,000 to 150,000 francs and he sells a lot on the weekends and holidays. He sells more meat and chicken than fish since when there are power outages he has a hard time preserving food.

A responsible father, he pays the school fees for his children with problem and since he has been with Hope, his profit has allowed him to finish his house and live in it. He thinks that with the training he has received, he is going to achieve his dream: expanding his business and opening up another butcher shop and grocery store.
