The Comité de Mujeres Emprendedoras [Business Women's Group], known as Primavera, is in the Chaco and all its members are neighbors and friends from this part of the country. Currently, they're on their fourth group loan with 14 applicants. They tell us that they hope to generate higher incomes for their families, but more so than that they would like to keep up their personal growth. They say that they are all active workers who meet their obligations responsibly.

Dolly sells perfumes and says that she's been doing this for a while now and so has ample experience. More than that, she says that she already has a lot of customers, some regulars, who frequently make orders for various fragrances of their liking. One of the projects she most looks forward to is having a location where she can sell her perfumes and attract more customers and, consequently, higher revenues. She is requesting this loan to buy perfumes and fragrances, for both men and women, so that she can fill the orders she has received. She is very grateful to the Fundación [La Fundación Paraguay; Kiva field partner] for the opportunity this gives her, as this loan will be a great help to her microbusiness.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
