Mrs. Phum is a 42 year old married woman who currently lives in Kompong Speu Province. She is married with five children. Four of her children are single and one is married. Three of her children are employed in a variety of jobs making profit.
Mrs. Phum works as a local farmer. She always grows rice crops and a few kinds of vegetables, and typically earns $2 USD per day. Mrs. Phum would like to request a loan from HKL and Kiva in order to purchase fertilizers and to buy some hogs for breeding.
Mrs. Phum hopes that with the increase in income she will be able to expand her old house, to support her children with a high level of education, and to enlarge her crop-planting business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
