A loan of $625 helped to buy materials and supplies for making cabinets.

Roque Roberto's story

Roque is 53 years old and lives to the south of the city with his wife and two children, ages 8 and 11. There he has managed a cabinetmaking business for more than 20 years. He makes furniture such as dining rooms sets, doors, as well as cabinets for bathrooms and kitchens. His business experience was acquired while he was employed at a carpentry shop. After he took a course that was offered for free, Roque discovered his entrepreneurial spirit and decided to open his own workshop, where he continues to work to this day. His goal is to achieve sustainability and a good level of profitability, which is currently at 42.91%. The greatest challenge he faces is having insufficient capital to extend his market, which is why he is applying for a Kiva loan.

This is his first form of financing through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Roque will use the money to buy raw materials and supplies for making kitchen and bathroom cabinets. He hopes the end result will be better product turnover in his business and having a constant stream of customers so that he will be able to recoup his investment.
