A loan of $675 helped to buy a hair dryer, shampoos, conditioners, and other beauty supplies.

Lia Vanessa's story

Lia, age 20, is a young woman who lives in the town of Soledad where she has a business called “Peluquería Ludys”. For the past six years Lia has been offering haircuts, massages, styling, and other services to improve one’s personal and professional image. Her customers include men, women, teenagers, and children. Lia will equip her physical space so that she can operate her salon. She plans to install bars, doors, windows, and lamps. Lia also needs an additional hair dryer and supplies in large volumes such as shampoos, conditioners, and other beauty supplies. For this reason she is applying for a Kiva loan, her first form of financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo.

This loan will increase her operating capital so that she can obtain discounts when making bulk purchases with cash, which will result in more income and competitive prices. Her dream is to make her customers more comfortable. The growth of her salon requires her to achieve a better position in the marketplace and to expand her customer base.
