A loan of $400 helped to buy and sell products (pasta, flour, rice, etc.).

Zilda's story

Zilda was born in Inhambane Province in southern Mozambique. She is 32 years old, married, and has three children. Two of the children go to school. Zilda is currently attending seventh grade. She does not support anyone else and is able to save 1,000 meticais through Xitique (collection among businesspeople). Zilda has a store in her home and, to increase her inventory, she approached Hluvuku asking for a loan. She depends on help from her husband, who is a driver and also owns three rental rooms in their house. One of the rooms is still under construction. She is sure that she will pay off the loan successfully so she will be able to take out more loans. Zilda has never worked with other banks. She will use these 10,000 meticais to buy staple goods for resale (pasta, flour, rice and other items). She plans to make up for lost time and continue her studies.
