Carmen

Peru
PUCALLPA, Peru / General Store

A loan of $450 helped to buy more groceries and products for her general store, because she needs to invest to be able to receive earnings.

Carmen's story

Carmen, 53 years old, is a happy, hard-working, married woman. She and her husband live in her own house with her brother-in-law and their 4 children who are now adult and independent. Carmen's work consists of selling groceries from her house. For 9 years now she has done this, and can count on her husband's help.

What Carmen likes about her work is that it is independent; she has time available to do other activities. She always has customers, and because she has a good sales record with a soft drink distributor, she is going to receive display cases for her products. Carmen has big plans for her business, although at the moment the store is small. She believes that further along, she will be able to expand. One of her most important projects is to enlarge her store and install a soda fountain.

This is Carmen's 17th loan with this institution. She feels good about her group and is very grateful to be able to work with MFP. And Carmen, who is a founding member of her communal bank, wants to continue the relationship.

With the 1,200 new sols requested she will buy more groceries and products for her general store, because she needs to invest to be able to receive earnings.
