A loan of $1,200 helped to buy pigs for fattening.

William Gerardo's story

William is 32 years old and lives with his wife and children in Las Bonitas de Plantanares, which is located in Pérez Zeledón in the province of San Jose. It is an agricultural area. The inhabitants of this region are mainly coffee growers and dual purpose livestock farmers.

William says that having the support and help of his wife makes it easy to continue with the project. He also says that he finds the project very interesting because he has seen his business grow slowly and demand get stronger. He also says that the residents of Las Bonitas de Plantanares are pleased with the service provided.

Mr William is currently asking for a loan of ¢600,000 (six hundred thouand colones) (CRC) to buy pigs for fattening, to get better results with his project.

Mr William is a member of the Empresa de Crédito Comunal de las Bonitas, one of the 110 member organisations of EDESA in Costa Rica. With this loan he expects to grow both personally and economically. He notes that thanks to these kinds of microfinancing organisations he can devote more of his time to productive activites. He has access to more information and credit both of which are difficult to obtain from banking institutions.
