A loan of $550 helped to purchase meat.

Mariana De Jesús's story

Mariana is a member of Mujeres en Progreso (Women in Progress) community bank. She lives in the parish of Baños, which is highly visited thanks to its hot springs, its variety of cuisine and for its friendly and cordial people. Mariana is 46 years old, married and has three children, ages 23, 18 and 13. Her first two daughters work and also study at a university, and her youngest son is in school. Her husband works as an auto mechanic and has his own shop. They don't own a home so they rent. Mariana has worked at a bar for the past two years, working Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. She also has made a living selling meat for the past year. This is her seventh loan with the community bank, and she plans to invest in the purchase of meat to continue her business. Her dream is to have a vehicle.
