Moufid is a 56-year-old married man living with his wife and five children. Two of his children are still attending school. He is from Lebanon. He has 21 years of experience working in the agricultural field.
In 1995, he bought a small piece of land where he started to cultivate lemons and bananas. Because he is older, he gets help from two part-time workers to complete the farm's hard work.
Today, he is asking to borrow $1200 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to make much-needed repairs on the water canal and purchase fertilizer and seed. He is willing to increase his business productivity, therefore his sales, and thus his income. This will be his second Kiva loan.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
