A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase corn wholesale, as it is one of the main ingredients for nactamal; and to purchase hogs to raise.

Maria Felix's story

Mrs. Maria, age 39, is from Telica in the Leon municipality. She is a married mother of two children. She is a merchant who makes nactamales. She started this activity 20 years ago. When she got married, her mother-in-law taught her how to make nactamales. In the beginning she was unsure, because she did not know much, but she learned and was surprised by the results. She has acquired a good clientele, her sales have increased, and her products have been in great demand. She has received praise for the flavour of her delicious nactamales, and this motivated her even more to get ahead and take on her business. She needs this loan to purchase corn whohlesale, as it is one of the main ingredients for nactamales; and to purchase hogs for raising. This investment will allow her to purchase corn wholesale. She will be able to buy it cheaper and stock up against price increases. Her next goal is to make repairs to her business, in order to give it a better appearance, and to stock up inventory to sell.
