In this Group: Raquel, Maria, Rosalina, Elida, Celina, Carmen, Zulma, Fermina, Isabel, Lourdes
The "8 D. Diciembre" committee was formed on the initiative of Señora Raquel, who was very interested by the program. They are in their first lending cycle currently, with ten women. All of them work together to be able to develop themselves, not just financially, but also on a personal level. The goal of the committee is to learn the importance of working in a team within the group, with responsibility, honesty and communication.

Señora Raquel works raising and selling animals. She says that is is very self-sacrificing work, and that she gets up at a very early hour and works till very late. The care of the animals is a very complicated task as she must keep an eye on the animals, in every sense. She would like to be able to have a larger field in which she can have more animals.

She is requesting the loan for the purchase of more animals, and also food for them. She has high hopes for this loan, as it will be a great help to her.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
