A loan of $800 helped to buy farming supplies.

Carlos Eduardo's story

Carlos Eduardo is 33 years old, single and living with his 13-year-old son in Chillanes Canton, Bolívar Province.

The “Nuevos Unidos” (New United Ones) communal bank is located in San José del Tambo Parish belonging to Chillanes Canton. The members of this communal bank are farmers, especially of corn, cocoa beans, rice, banana, oranges and coffee.

Carlos Eduardo farms corn, cocoa beans, rice, oranges, bananas, coffee, etc. He makes his purchases and sells his products at the San José del Tambo market every weekend.

He requests the loan to buy farming supplies: fertilizer and manure for his crops. The loan will help him meet his economic needs and improve his farming activities. The challenges he faces are drops in prices of the products he sells as well as dealing with middlemen. His five-year plan is to be able to buy a house to leave to his son.

He enjoys listening to music, going out and sharing pleasant moments with his son and friends.
