Levan's story

Levan is from the village Kolotauri, Keda District, Adjara region. Kolotauri is located in mountainous Adjara and is famous for well-developed bee-keeping. Levan is 60 years old. He is married and lives with his family: his wife Tenzile, 31-year-old son, daughter-in-law and two grand-daughters (3 and 1 years old). Levan is a teacher and works in the local school. Along with his job, Levan is actively involved in the family agricultural business. In particular, he is leading the dairy farm of the family, with three milk cows. Tenzile produces cheese and sells on average 60 kg of cheese per month on the local market. Also he has 10 bee-hives with bee-colonies. Twice a year he gets on average 150 kg of the honey from the bee-hives and sells it on local market. Total average monthly income of the family is 990 Laris. Levan requested credit for expansion of his bee-keeping business. He will purchase five new bee-hives with bee-colonies and will get 50% more honey. It will increase annual income of the family by 3600 Laris. Levan will use the increase in income for improving family living conditions.
