A loan of $1,900 helped a member to buy clothes and shoes for resale.

Mama Africa Group's story

This is 52 year-old Laina (holding the folder) from Masvingo, a town in south-eastern Zimbabwe. She is married with four children, all attending school. Laina runs a cross-border retail business selling clothes and shoes. The business has been in operation for 6 years. She says the main challenges faced are high competition from other sellers at the market. Laina has requested a loan of $400 to buy more clothes and shoes to meet demand. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to improve the living standards of her family. In the future Laina plans to own a shop to sell goods from and to employ workers.
