Tamaraneh Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Tamaraneh” group. They are small scale businesspeople based in Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They are requesting for a loan of 800,000.00 SLL for each from SMT/Kiva lenders. With the help of this loan, they will be able to expand their respective businesses, make more profit consequently improving their living conditions.

The leader of this group is Mohamed. Thirty-four-year-old Mohamed was born in Freetown. He is married to a student, and the couple has one child who is attending primary school. Mohamed sells used-clothes, and has been doing this business for many years now. With the help of this loan, he is going to buy a bale of business-clothes to add to his current stock.
