God's Power Group
In this Group: Friday, Maria, Betty, Hadija, Olivia
Friday is 21 years old and has a natural buoyancy and good-humored spirit that strikes people. He exudes nothing but confidence and good humor. Even at his young age, Friday has already started a butcher shop in one of the biggest trading centers in Mubende. He says that is it more worthwhile to engage in a profit-making business venture than in the counterproductive activities of many of his peers. Friday sells goat, beef, and chicken meat and his products sell well. Before opening his shop, he sold bananas. He has been running his business for three years and has learned a lot of the nitty-gritty of doing business. Friday purchases most of his meat in bulk so that he never runs short and is able to cope with high demand. His daily business returns are 600,000 UGX.

Friday is requesting a loan to purchase more meat and also construct a small kiosk to sell food.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
