Abdurahim's story

Abdurahim is 31 years old. He is married and has three children. His wife is a housekeeper; Abdurahim's business is the main source of income for his family. For the past eight years, Abdurahim has been providing transportation services. He also has a cattle-breeding business. Abdurahim wants all of his children to be well-educated, which is one reason why he works so hard. As a result of his hard work, the business generates an income that allows him to support his large family. In order to provide better service for his clients, Abdurahim needs to make major repairs to his truck. He also wants to buy more cattle. He believes that these things will make his business more profitable. For this reason, he is requesting 3,000 USD. These conditions have resulted in high levels of unemployment and have forced hundreds of thousands to seek work in other countries, mainly Russia. While the people of Tajikistan are working to improve its agricultural production and manufacturing sector, nearly two-thirds of the population still live in abject poverty.
