This group was created on June 12, 2008 at the opening of the BV ("village bank"). Its members all live in the same village and their primary business is selling vegetables.

Mme Khady is a widow of 40, raising six children. She is the leader of the group and in the photo she is on the right with her hand raised.

She is a small-scale retailer selling vegetables from a stall in front of her house. She has a lot of experience as she has done this business for 15 years.

This loan will permit her to stock up at the weekly wholesale market so as to sell retail at her house. This will expand her business since her expenses will be reduced.

Her profit will be used to grow her savings and support her family, especially relative to their health, food, and school fees for the children.

Les bénéfices serviront à renforcer son épargne et à entretenir sa famille, surtout la santé, la nourriture et la scolarité de ses enfants.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
